With the ice caves, my team and I started to systematically "retouch" block models.

Instead of rebuilding models that were supposed to reappear in the storyline as destroyed,

I started to paint in all of the destroyed elements. The retouch procedure became standard

and saved us enormous amounts of time. It was also my first introduction to matte painting.
